Hey everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend and are ready for a great week of workouts!
Hopefully you have continued to focus on your nutrition and have been following the nutrition objectives!
Nutrition is a HUGE part of what determines our results at the end of the 8 weeks. The greater effort you put into your nutrition, the better your results.
Now, if you have been imperfect, or at times far from it, don’t beat yourself up over it. Life (shit) happens! Life does not always cooperate with our fitness goals. I struggle with these things the same way that you do. Chris Estridge , Nicole Kulovitz , and John would all tell you the same thing.
This weekend was far from perfect for me when it came to nutrition. It did well some parts of it and not so great some other parts. Decided to spend some time with friends I don’t see often enough so I was unable to do my normal meal-prepping. Rather than being hard on myself I am just going to make adjustments to my schedule this week to make up for it. What benefit would it serve me to be negative towards myself. I’m DECIDING to be positive, but still honest with myself.
Life will ALWAYS find a way to get into the way. Whether it be fun things like family get-togethers, football parties etc. or it could be tough and difficult things like family problems, work problems, battling your own personal demons etc. Lord knows I have to deal will all the above. As hard as life is on us, there’s no need to add to those difficulties by being hard on yourself, stressing out, and piling onto the pile of shit we already have to deal with in everyday life.
The best piece of advice I have gotten in the past year while I was dealing with some very difficult times is to treat yourself right. Not only in how dedicated you are to your workouts and eating healthy. But also HOW you talk to yourself and about yourself.
Its very important to stay dedicated and keeping yourself accountable, but along with that is being your own best cheerleader and motivator and supporter. Talk yourself up, root yourself on, and if need be give yourself a positive kick in the ass when you aren’t treating yourself right. Spend a few minutes today to sit and think about how YOU are treating YOU. If that is tough for you to do, try this: Sit in complete silence and try to just not think at all. Now, pay attention to the NOISE inside your head. What thoughts creep into your mind? What things come up without you trying to think of anything. Then explore why exactly those things come up. Are they small easy tasks you could complete and just need to do them? Are they negative thoughts? Positive? Sometimes when we are in tough times its hard to find the answer no matter how hard we look. I don’t care who you are, life is really fucking hard and confusing. Sometimes you have to let the answer just come to you.
If you have been doing everything correctly, AWESOME!! Keep that positive momentum rolling! If you have struggled a little bit, do some honest soul-searching and find an opportunity to take positive steps to get that momentum back!
